The San Bernardino County Adoption Service (CAS) is authorized by the
California Department of Social Services (CDSS) to accept the relinquishment of a child in accordance with Welfare and Institutions Code (WIC) § 16100.
Parents have the option to relinquish legal ties with their child when they are
unable to care for the child, so that a safe and permanent home can be
provided through adoption.
The County Adoption Services provides services to parents, children
and families when parents are considering relinquishment of their parental rights.
Throughout the relinquishment process the CAS worker will address
relinquishment issues with the birth parent, including:
